Following the Sandy Hook Massacre, a priest from Dunblane, Scotland reaches out to Father Bob offering support 16 years after a school shooting in his own town. The men bond over personal trauma and responsibilities... In the aftermath the UK reformed its gun laws; the US responded with inaction. With Monsignor Bob Weiss, Monsignor Basil O’Sullivan.

After the screening on April 29th: a conversation with director Kim Snyder, producer Maria Cuomo Cole along with subject Monsignor Robert Weiss, Sandy Hook surviving teacher Mary Ann Jacob, and Parkland, Florida student Ryan Deitsch. Moderated by actor & director John Slattery.

Mary Ann Jacob

Mary Ann Jacob is a survivor of the shooting at Sandy Hook School where she was a Library Clerk for 12 years. She recently completed serving on the Newtown Legislative Council as an elected Republican representative and as its Chairman for four years. She is the primary author of the Firearms Ordinance in Newtown written in response to safety concerns stemming from target shooting on private property. Since 2013, Mary Ann has volunteered as a Fellow in the Survivor Network for Everytown for Gun Safety. She speaks on gun violence prevention topics to Medical School residents and others.

Maria Cuomo Cole

Maria Cuomo Cole

Maria Cuomo Cole is the award-winning producer of the feature documentary, Newtown, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Through film, she has tackled such relevant subjects as gun violence, homelessness, veterans’ PTSD, domestic violence and sexual assault. She has produced the Emmy and Peabody award-winning film, The Hunting Ground, directed by Kirby Dick, the 2014 Oscar® nominated documentary, The Invisible War, and Living for 32, which was short listed for an Academy Award® and premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Since 1992, she has led HELP USA, the national nonprofit leader in both homeless and permanent supportive service housing and employment programs for veterans, families and survivors of domestic violence.

Ryan Deitsch

Ryan Deitsch is a Senior Journalism and TV production student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida. Ryan is the founder and president of the Improv Club by day and Activist for Sensible Gun Legislation by night.

Kim A. Snyder

Kim A. Snyder is a NYC-based director/producer, with her most recent documentary Newtown  premiering at 2016's Sundance Film Festival. Also known for Welcome to Shelbyville, both films broadcast nationally on PBS's Independent Lens. Kim graduated with a Masters in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Monsignor Robert Weiss

Monsignor Robert Weiss

Monsignor Robert Weiss was ordained in May 1973. Over the years, he has served in several parishes and in 2007, he was given the title Monsignor, Chaplain to His Holiness by Pope Benedict XVI and as Lieutenant Commander of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre in 2017. Presently, he serves as pastor at Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Newtown, CT where he officiated the funerals of eight children who were victims of the Sandy Hook School shooting. He continues to be called upon as a support to the families and the Newtown community and to other communities experiencing similar tragedies.

Rush will be offered when advanced tickets for a screening or event are no longer available at venues other than Beacon Theatre.
The Rush system functions as a standby line that will form at the venue approximately one hour prior to scheduled start time. Admittance is based on availability and will begin roughly 10 minutes prior to program start time. Rush Tickets are the same price as advance tickets and are payable upon entry.
