SHORTS IN COMPETITION: NARRATIVE

ROMANCE SANS PAROLES

Directed by Christophe Guérin
SHORT NARRATIVE 4 Minutes International Premiere
FILM GUIDE ROMANCE SANS PAROLES
Deconstruction and reconstruction from a found footage of a swashbuckling movie. Hundreds of images were scanned from film fragments and put together to get a rhythmic composition, “a stream of light energy,” giving a new life to the actors of an obscure forgotten film.

About the Director(s)
Christophe Guérin mainly works from film (Super 8, 16mm, 35mm) in order to obtain a video format for screening, after digital processing. He views the conjunction of the two technologies—film and video—as an enrichment, as his research is carried out both on the graphic dimension, temporality, and also on the sound dimension. Since 2000, about 20 of his experimental shorts have been screened at film festivals worldwide.
