2015 Tribeca Film Festival Podcast: "Harvey Weinstein in Conversation"

The famed movie honcho tells all.

He doesn’t act, he doesn’t write, he doesn’t direct, and yet he remains of Hollywood’s biggest moguls. This podcast allows viewers to gain insight into the man behind some of the largest films in history, Harvey Weinstein. With 303 Oscar nominations and 75 Academy Award wins attached to his name, the producer sits with Deadline’s Editor-in-Chief Mike Fleming to discuss his profound career and everlasting legacy on the world of cinema. Introducing Weinstein is Tribeca Film Festival’s co-founder Jane Rosenthal who attributes the mogul’s success to his unique ability to approach a story with “that kid-like sensibility…where he can constantly look at a work and be amazed by it.” This quality not only established him as one of the most influential men in Hollywood but also helped launch the careers of some of the most famous filmmakers in the industry. From Quentin Tarantino's iconic Pulp Fiction to Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s legendary script for Good Will Hunting, Weinstein serves as the godfather to these actors, being the man who helped bring their remarkable visions and unique scripts to the screen. In this conversation, Weinstein covers topics including his first experience working with renowned director Quentin Tarantino and the close relationship they formed after the wide success of Pulp Fiction. He also reveals how he scored one of the most iconic films in film history, Good Will Hunting. Apparently, several different companies were chasing the two young actors for their script, but in his first meeting with Affleck and Damon, Weinstein won them over after surprising them.

So, what was the surprise? You'll have to listen to find out...
