Happy Birthday, Edward Burns!

Our friend Eddie Burns is celebrating his 46th birthday today! Join us in wishing him a good one!

Edward Burns has been a welcome presence over the years at the Tribeca Film Festival, as both our frequent collaborator and neighbor. We’ve had the privilege to screen many of his films like Ash Wednesday (which premiered at our inaugural Festival) Looking For Kitty, Purple Violets, The Groomsmen, Nice Guy Johnny and Newlyweds (which was selected as the Closing Night Film for TFF 2011).

Edward Burns is a prominent pioneer in the micro-budget indie film movement. Always innovative, he has worked with Tribeca Film on the theatrical, VOD and digital releases of both Newlyweds and The Fitzgerald Family Christmas

After his stunning turn as Bugsy Siegel in TNT’s Mob City this past Fall, Burns is returning to network television with a new pilot called Public Morals. Executive produced by none other than Steven Spielberg, the show is set during 1967 and focuses on the lives of the officers in the NYPD’s Public Morals Division. Burns is the writer/director of the series, and stars in it as well, playing Terry Muldoon, a cop who struggles to raise his sons in a world where the lines between good guys and bad guys are terribly blurred.

Happy Birthday, Eddie! We can’t wait to see what you’ll do next!
