Tribeca Cinemas Will Host a Tribute Screening of 'Awakenings' Tonight

To celebrate the life and work of Robin Williams, on Tuesday August 19th Tribeca Cinemas will host a screening of one of his many remarkable films - Penny Marshall's 'Awakenings,' with proceeds going to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

In the wake of Robin Williams' passing, the Tribeca Cinemas family would like to pay tribute to a man whose roles brought so much to the screen and to our lives. Through his exceptional balance of comedy and pathos in films like Hook, Good Morning Vietnam, The World According To Garp, Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society and countless others, Williams’ body of work influenced generations of comedians, filmmakers, and audiences alike.

Please join us on Tuesday August 19th at 7pm for a special screening of Awakenings, the 1990 Penny Marshall film starring Williams and our co-founder Robert De Niro, at Tribeca Cinemas. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. 100% of proceeds will go to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Please feel free to donate directly, as well, by visiting their website:
