TFF 2014 Trailer of the Day: ‘Famous Nathan’

One family takes a humble hot dog stand on Coney Island and turns it into a multi-million dollar empire.

The atmosphere was hustle, bustle, almost wild — but it was coordinated wild.

You’re not a true New Yorker until you’ve had at least one Famous Nathan’s hot dog, but have you ever wondered about the history behind the tasty treat? Documentarian Lloyd Handwerker (Grandson of ‘Famous’ Nathan himself!) looks back at his family history in this off-beat and intriguing, and his chronicle says much about our own immigrant roots. The original Nathan came to this country with a burning desire to achieve the American dream, and his ambitions propelled the creation of a culinary dynasty that is still run by his descendants.

With beautiful home movie clips, exceptional archival footage, and a bold and unique style all its own, Famous Nathan will satisfy all New York history buffs and fast food lovers.
