TFF 2014 Trailer of The Day: ‘Lucky Them’

Toni Collette gives a revelatory performance as a fledging critic in the Seattle music scene.

Musicians! I mean, men are toxic to me. And you‘re both. It’s not personal.

Toni Collette triumphantly returns to her indie roots in Lucky Them, directed by Megan Griffiths and written by Emily Wachtel and Huck Botko. Collette plays Ellie Klug, a critic with a struggling Seattle-based music magazine, who is stuck in a cycle of empty relationships and boozy nights after the disappearance of her indie-rockstar ex-boyfriend Matthew Smith more than a decade ago.

On assignment, Ellie decides to delve into her past to try and find out what really happened to Matthew Smith. Accompanying her on this journey is her old friend and eccentric aspiring documentarian Charlie (a hilarious Thomas Haden Church). Also starring Olivier Platt, Ryan Eggold, Nina Arianda, and Amy Seimetz, this understated indie drama is filled with humor, pathos and music.

Tickets to see Lucky Them are still available for:
