When you die, everything you know disappears. A love letter to the abject beauty of motherhood and human frailty, in three short acts, Her Heart is Washed in Water and the Weighed is an irreducibly complex meditation on monuments, mortality and female mobility. Filmed in Rome, Italy and Iowa City, Iowa, the film takes its title from a procedure in autopsying the human corpse.
