A ROMANTIC COMEDY EVENT: GAY PRIDE & PREJUDICE (JESSE TYLER FERGUSON, VELLA LOVELL, BLAKE LEE)

Join us for this Tribeca event centered around Spotify’s modern podcast adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice from Gimlet. This presentation and discussion will feature creators and cast members Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Vella Lovell, Blake Lee, Ronald Peet, Zackary Grady and Justin Mikita, and will be moderated by Mimi O’Donnell. When same-sex marriage finally becomes legal, Bennet struggles to find belonging when his chosen family suddenly begins coupling off and settling down.

Vella Lovell currently stars alongside Ted Danson and Holly Hunter in the Tina Fey produced comedy series Mr. Mayor on NBC. Prior to this, Lovell is best known for her standout series regular role as Heather Davis on all four seasons of CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” On the film side, she is best known for her role in the indie hit “The Big Sick” and recently starred in the Comedy Central holiday parody movie A Clüsterfünke Christmas which was written and produced by Saturday Night Live alums Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer.

Zackary Grady

Zackary Grady

Zackary Grady is a writer/director whose productions span film, theater, and fiction podcasting. His short film 'Island Queen' played a series of festivals including NewFest, Inside Out, and Frameline. Zackary’s work in theater has been produced off-broadway, regionally, and internationally, including his plays 'Toe Pick' as well as the upcoming 'God Save the Queer'. His audio-driven productions 'Travis' and 'Dead Letter Office' utilize headphones on audiences, making him one of the first creators to develop audio-immersive theater in NYC.

Justin Mikita

Justin Mikita is a Tony Award winning producer of theater, film and TV. Theater: Is This A Room/ Dana H. (2021) Oklahoma! (Tony Winner, Best Revival of a Musical 2019), The Inheritance (Tony Winner, Best Play, 2021), Torch Song (Tony Nominee, Best Revival of a Play 2019). Film: Welcome To Chechnya (Oscar Shortlist, 2020). Justin spends his spare time as an advocate for LGBTQIA+ equality, currently serving on the board of directors for the Human Rights Campaign.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson

Jesse Tyler Ferguson

Five time Emmy Award nominee Jesse Tyler Ferguson starred as “Mitchell Pritchett” on the Award-winning ABC comedy Modern Family, which ran for 11 seasons. Ferguson returned to Broadway in 2016 starring as 40 outrageous characters in the hit one-man show, Fully Committed, for which he received a Drama Desk Award for “Outstanding Solo Performance” as well as a Drama League Nomination for “Distinguished Performance.” He appeared in the original cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and is currently appearing in the first Broadway revival of Take Me Out. He can be seen in the upcoming films Cocaine Bear & Ivy + Bean. A longstanding advocate for marriage equality, Ferguson co-founded Tie The Knot in 2012 with his husband, where they design limited edition bow ties with all the proceeds going to various organizations that fight for LGBTQ equality around the world.

Blake Lee

Blake Lee

Blake Lee most recently starred in Freeform’s award winning hit series Cruel Summer, executive produced by Jessica Biel. Other recent credits include, The Christmas Setup, opposite Fran Drescher and his real-life husband Ben Lewis, and the CBS comedy Fam, opposite Nina Dobrev. Blake got his start recurring on NBC's hit series Parks and Recreation, then starred on ABC's high-concept series Mixology, created by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover). He also co-starred alongside James Franco and Zachary Quinto in the Sundance film I Am Michael. Lee is repped by Management 360, Innovative Artists and attorney Melissa Fox
