Dive deep into the transformative power of narratives as a means of building, sustaining, and celebrating legacy. With a focus on Black storytellers across a variety of verticals including film, art, and photography, a moderator will lead the panelists through a multidimensional community conversation championing the art of authentic Black storytelling. This panel is a celebration of Juneteenth, in partnership with adidas.

Dwamina Drew

Dwamina Drew “Enstrumental” is an urban historian, art collector and curator, filmmaker, and Chicago-based designer, who founded the company Enstrumental Clothing (now Brand) in July of 2007. The mission - infuse fashion and social commentary into art through creation and curation of art campaigns/projects. Enstrumental released an Obama-inspired shirt ("Politics as Unusual" in 2007), which received approval from the Obama campaign (and the president-elect himself). As well as collaborating with notable artists such as Lupe Fiasco and Hebru Brantley and more to create art and products that honor the community, promote uplifting dialogue and action. In September 2015, Drew released his first film, “The Revenge of Emmett Till,” which he wrote, funded, and directed. 

Isaac Yowman

Isaac Yowman

Isaac Yowman, the Fullsail University Alumni is a Grammy Nominated, 12x Platinum music producer, songwriter and an award winning filmmaker. He’s created with some of the industry's elite like Beyoncé, Zedd, Trey Songz, Snoop Dogg and more. He is the CEO & Creative Director at IYO Visuals, a minority owned & operated video production company with over a decade of film, tv & commercial experience. Isaac and his team are passionate about telling powerful stories and serving underserved communities through film and art.

Yowman has directed projects for the NBA, Marvel, adidas, Netflix, Frito-Lay, McDonalds, Moët & Chandon, General Motors, JD Sports, ESPN and many more. His visual tribute to the music icon DJ Screw was acquired by Sony Pictures and is now being redeveloped as a feature film biopic through Columbia, in which he will serve as Executive Producer alongside Travis Scott. His latest NAACP Image Award nominated documentary “Memory Builds The Monument” was licensed by Paramount, and is now streaming on BET+.

Russell Hamilton

Russell Hamilton

Russell C. Hamilton (b. 1992) is a Jamaican-American multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles by way of Atlanta, GA. His creative practice permeates ethnology & sociology throughout the diaspora. Photography & filmmaking are the vehicles for his framework. With a background in archival studies, Hamilton is the creative director for Black Archives, one of the leading educational repositories for historic Black American culture. His commitment is to examine the multiplicity of marginalized demographics, highlighting nuance & agency within communities. His latest case study hones in on the cultural legacy of HBCU Marching Bands throughout the South as it pertains to musicianship & performance art. Hamiton's latest work will be exhibited throughout his upcoming artist residency at the LINE Hotel in Los Angeles, CA this Fall where he will debut his 2nd publication MAS, a portrait study of Jamaica's carnival season exploring the majesty of Black celebratory spaces. 

Vashni Korin

Vashni Korin

Vashni Korin is a Black American director with Puerto Rican and Caribbean roots, whose identity influences her gaze. She strives to bring her community together through folklore, spirituality, and celebration, with a focus on the experiences of women. Her trailblazing documentary short, "You Can't Stop Spirit”, a NY-Times Op Doc (2022)," connects the spiritual and physical lives of Black women during carnival in New Orleans. Negra, Yo Soy Bella (2023) is her second directorial short, a part of Queen Latifah & Tribeca’s Queen Collective fellowship amplifying Afro-Latinas in Puerto Rico. This short screened at Tribeca, LALIFF, Blackstar and Caribbean Tales with final distribution on BET Networks.

Jennifer Ford

Jennifer Ford-Starling is the representation of sneaker culture in Houston. Founder + Owner of the first sneaker boutique in Texas – established in 2004, Premium Goods has been a staple in the city and the industry. Jennifer has been able to build a store and a private label brand that proudly represents Houston’s culture. In 2010, she expanded Premium Kids, a children’s store focused on helping cultivate the next generation of sneakerheads in Houston. While building her entrepreneurship journey, Jennifer also dedicates her time to her beautiful family. She understands that as one of the few black women in her industry, and female leaders in her community, she is in a special position to empower other women and minorities around her. She’s committed to being a strong ambassador to help her community chase their goals and achieve their dreams.
