Rush Doc Wins 2010 Heineken Audience Award!

Rush Doc Wins 2010 Heineken Audience Award!

 

 

 

The votes are in! This year's Heineken Audience Award has been a thriller of a competition. The standings were hotly contested, changing by the minute and by the screening, with a variety of docs (Monica & David, The Two Escobars, The Woodmans) and narratives (When We Leave and Loose Cannons) battling it out.

But now we officially have the winner: RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage!

Congratulatious to directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn and their talented cast and crew, who also won a $25,000 prize from Heineken. Second Place went to family favorite Snowmen, and coming up in Third Place is the New York doc Arias with a Twist: The Docufantasy. Together, these three films make for a diverse, enlightening trio.

TFF 2010 Heineken Audience Award Winner
RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage

For fans and newcomers to the legendary Canadian band Rush, this is the music documentary to experience. Directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn embark on a comprehensive exploration of this extraordinary power trio, from their early days in Toronto, through each of their landmark albums, to the present day. Sit back and revel in the words, music, and wonder of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart.

TFF 2010 Audience Award: Third Place
Arias with a Twist: The Docufantasy

 

A joyously uplifting celebration of the creative process and the inventive, outrageous downtown art scene of New York from the past 30 years, Arias with a Twist focuses its lens on the inspired collaboration between cabaret and drag artist Joey Arias and master puppeteer Basil Twist, whose groundbreaking 2008 show brought them some of the biggest success of their careers. Featuring never-before-seen footage of Andy Warhol, Jim Henson, Keith Haring, Grace Jones, and Divine.
