NYC 22 Hits The Streets

Every hero starts somewhere. Executive producers Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, joined by Richard Price and Ken Sanzel, are offering a different kind of prime-time police drama this season.

NYC 22 Hits The Streets

Premiering on Sunday April 15 on CBS, NYC 22 features six unique NYPD recruits as they learn though experience on the perilous streets of upper Manhattan. The emotional and physical demands of their work require these rookies to mature in a hurry, and increasingly they are forced to come together as a unit. NYC 22 chronicles their struggles and their growth.

The rookies are a diverse bunch: Jennifer “White House” Perry (LeeLee Sobieski), a former college athlete and Marine MP; Ray “Lazarus” Harper (Adam Goldberg), the senior rookie and former police reporter whose sources are more reliable than those of even the most seasoned cops; Tonya Sanchez (Judy Marte), a young woman with a family well known to the NYPD; Ahmad Khan (Tom Reed), an Afghani native who fought his way to freedom; Kenny McLaren (Stark Sands), a fourth-generation officer who is talented but is unsure about his future on the force; and Jayson “Jackpot” Toney (Harold House Moore), a gifted basketball player who blew his opportunity to play in the NBA.

This diverse band is led by Daniel “Yoda” Dean (Terry Kinney), a no-nonsense Field Training Officer who demands nothing less than the best, and Sergeant Terry Howard (Felix Solis), a plainclothes officer from the Gang Intel Unit who tries to instill street-smarts in this new unit.

Created by author (Clockers, Wanderers, Lush Life) and screenwriter (The Wire, The Color of Money, Sea of Love) Richard Price, this character-driven police drama is shot on the streets of New York and its boroughs. Clever writing, fine acting, and NYC authenticity all make NYC 22 a must-see for prime-time television viewers.
