Cary Fukunaga's African War Drama
What you need to know: Fukunaga's lastest stars Idris Elba in a story about a child soldier drafted to a militant group in West Africa. Based on the novel by Uzodinma Iweala, Beasts of No Nation sold to Netflix for $12 million and the rumors of an awards-season push.
Tribeca says: You can always expect a good movie from Fukunaga. This is huge for Netflix.

HBO's Female and Minority Writing Fellowship
What you need to know: Perhaps in light of the industry's increasing frustration with the lack of diversity in creative roles, the presitigious HBOAccess Writing Fellowship addresses women and minorities directly in their call for applicants. The program will begin accepting applications on March 4, 2015.

Ibrahimovic's Unusual Goal Celebration
What you need to know: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now playing for Paris Saint-Germain, caught the world's attention yet again when he celebrated his first goal by removing his shirt, a gesture that always earns a yellow card. In what was likely a pre-planned publicity stunt, the star striker's celebration revealed his chest and arms that were tattooed with the names of real people dying of hunger.
Tribeca says: Arguably the best yellow he's ever earned.

Cineaste's Post-Blacklist
What you need to know: When Hollywood's blacklist emerged at the peak of McCarthyism, it put legions of talented screenwriters, directors, producers, and actors out of work. Join Cineaste and Anthology Film Archives at a look at this monumental shift in Hollywood cinema.
Tribeca says: For our NYCers - don't miss this inspiring series that features a selection of "comeback films."

Arcade Fire's ISIS Song
What you need to know: Arcade Fire's Will Butler released a new song every day for a week, each one inspired by a different article from the Guardian. Past songs have included subject matters like the Greek debt crisis, Ukranian separatists, Moses Kotane. The last one, perhaps the most haunting, discusses the ISIS destruction of a musem in Mosul.
Tribeca says: Read the source article here. We are following this project closely.
