TFF 2013 Trailer of the Day: 'Lenny Cooke'

“How many people here like to be in control of their own destiny?” Our trailer of the day is Lenny Cooke, which played to full houses each screening at TFF 2013. The Safdie Brothers, aided by producer Adam Shopkorn, invited audiences inside the life of Lenny Cooke at two different stages of his life—when he was18 and again when he is 30. In a class of high school all-stars from across the country that included LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire, Cooke shone the brightest and was dubbed "the next NBA superstar." However, things didn’t quite pan out for Lenny. Watch the trailer above and see the events unfold for yourself.

Check out our interview with the Sadfie Brothers in which we discuss the fallacy of the American Dream, the current state of the NBA, and the satisfaction of giving Lenny Cooke just a few more minutes in the limelight. You can also watch the dynamic duo talk about new media and storytelling with Chris Hardwick, GE’s Andy Goldberg, and Morgan Spurlock through clips from our Future of Film Live series with The Verge
