TFF 2014 Winner ‘Point and Shoot’ Will Get U.S Release

Good news doc lovers and Festival enthusiasts! Point and Shoot, winner of the TFF 2014 Best Documentary Feature Prize, will be getting theatrical distribution in the U.S. this Fall courtesy of The Orchard. Even better? There are plans for a digital release of this exceptional film on all platforms early next year.

After finishing graduate school, a shy Baltimore native with OCD named Matthew Van Dyke left the U.S. to embark on a “ crash course in manhood.” Riding his motorcycle across North Africa and the Middle East, Matthew ends up in Libya where he gets involved in the 2011 Libyan Revolution, taking up arms against Gaddafi. Using footage shot by Van Dyke over the course of his travels, TFF alum and Oscar nominee Marshall Curry skillfully presents Matthew’s incredible story, including the 6 months Matthew spent in solitary confinement in a Gaddafi prison.

We were incredibly honored to host the world premiere of Point and Shoot at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the country (and the world) will think of this amazing documentary.
