In 2012, our Closing Night Film caused quite a bit of buzz around Gotham City. You may remember it. It was a little movie called The Avengers. Stars like Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg and more joined us on the red carpet to celebrate on-screen heroes as well as our own everyday heroes from police agencies, fire departments, first responders, and various branches of the U.S. military. We were honored to celebrate these local icons, whose presence honored the founding spirit of the Tribeca Film Festival.

This year, we’re making history again with screening the world premiere restoration of Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy. One of the most underrated movies in the auteur’s illustrious career, this multi-layered comic gem (which is celebrating its 30th anniversary to boot) is most famous for its cutting-edge insight on reality television culture. Supported by brilliant performances from Jerry Lewis, Sandra Bernhard, Diahnne Abbot and Tribeca’s own Robert De Niro, The King of Comedy offers an incredibly funny and unsettling look into the darker side of industry.

It’s well known that on Closing Night of the Tribeca Film Festival, anything can happen. The red carpet outside the BMCC Tribeca PAC will be filled with action, excitement and celebrities. So don’t you want to catch a glimpse of it? For only $50, you can be part of this historical screening and get in on all the exhilaration of our Festival’s 12th annual Closing Night. And you know what they say, “Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime.”
