SNL Documentary from 2015 Tribeca Film Festival Arrives in Theaters this Friday

Not sure what to do with your Saturday summer nights since Saturday Night Live went on hiatus? We've all been there...

Luckily, Live from New York!, a behind-the-scenes documentary from first-time feature filmmaker Bao Nguyen that digs deep into the forty-year-old comic TV landmark, is opening in select cities this Friday, June 12th, with plans to expand into more theaters across the country within the coming weeks.

The film, which served as the opening night selection at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, is packed with starry interviews and classic footage, and is must-see viewing for anyone who can still recite all of Roseanne Rosannadanna's ailments or fondly remembers re-enacting Wayne's World skits on your living room couch.

This weekend, New York's hottest spot is the Landmark Sunshine Cinema on the Lower East Side, where you can catch Live from New York! starting Friday, while everyone else can consult the film's official theatrical release calendar to find out if the film is playing in your area. In the meantime, check out the trailer above.

And if that awesome picture of Lorne Michaels and original cast members-cum-comedy goddesses Gilda Radner, Laraine Newman, and Jane Curtin (along with guest host/goddess-in-her-own-right Shelley Duvall) has you clamoring for an edgier and -- let's admit it -- all-around funnier time in Saturday Night Live's storied history, then you owe it to yourself to re-live those glory days in this big screen celebration of one of the small screen's greatest triumphs.
