Today at Tribeca: Tribeca Family Festival, Clint Eastwood, and ‘The King of Comedy’
Spend your Saturday with the family then leave the kids at home for our closing night screening of ‘The King of Comedy.’

Yesterday we celebrated pioneers and groundbreakers like Twyla Tharp, Morgan Spurlock, Jack Andraka, and Psy at our 4th annual Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards. The audience enjoyed dancing, 3D displays and even a special screening of the Focus Forward Film, You Don’t Know Jack. You know, just your typical Friday.
Today’s Events:
Join us today at Greenwich St (north of Chambers) from 10:00AM to 6:00PM for the Tribeca Family Festival and Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day. The whole family can enjoy free filmmaking activities, chef demonstrations, games, performances, screenings, films and more…for free. Tell us, can you think of any better way to spend your Saturday? Didn’t think so. Click here to learn more about it.
Our last Tribeca Talks® Directors Series will be held today at 3:30PM with Clint Eastwood in conversation with Darren Aronofsky. Nothing is off limits as the two discuss filmmaking, their legacies and who knows what else. Didn’t get tickets and don’t want to RUSH? We will be livestreaming this very special Tribeca Talks® directly on our website. An archived version will be available later.
"Better to be king for a night, than schmuck for a lifetime.” The 30th anniversary screening of The King of Comedy will close the 12th annual Festival this evening. Newly restored by The Film Foundation, Regency Enterprises and Twentieth Century Fox, this underrated movie is widely considered to be a career highlight for both Martin Scorsese and our own Robert De Niro. The two icons will be in attendance, and will offer comments to the Closing Night crowd.
As an art form, video games often don't receive the attention they deserve from certified film buffs. Playstation 3's Beyond: Two Souls is about as visually realistic as you can get with a video game, where stars Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe are recreated digitially down to every freckle. Join game creator David Cage and actors Ellen Page, Kadeem Hardison and Eric Winter for Tribeca Talks® After the Movie for a special behind-the-scenes look at this breakthrough in interactive storytelling. Moderated by video game journalist Harold Goldberg.
Don’t forget! The winner of our Heineken Audience Award will be announced tonight at the Heineken Wrap Party. We’ll post the results on our site directly afterwards.
Purchase tickets while you can for a few of these great films: BIG JOY: The Adventures of James Broughton, Odayaka, Northwest, Farah Goes Bang, Floating Skyscrapers, Alias Ruby Blade: A Story of Love and Revolution, Taboor, Powerless, Michael H. Profession Director, Raw Herring, The Motivation, Fresh Meat, and The Machine.
Tomorrow’s Events:
Did you miss any of our TFF 2013 Award winners over the course of the Festival? Our annual award-screening Sunday features all our top honorees like The Rocket, Broken Circle Breakdown, The Kill Team, and more. Click here for the schedule so far, and make sure to purchase those tickets soon!
