THE LAST RITES OF JOE MAY, directed by Joe Maggio, stars Dennis Farina as Joe May, a down on his luck short money hustler who always believed his future would be brighter than it turned out to be. Following a bout with pneumonia, May returns to his cold Chicago neighborhood to find his car impounded, his possessions pawned and apartment rented by his landlord who had assumed him dead. Saved by the good graces of the new tenants a single mother named Jenny and her eight year-old daughter, Joe is welcomed in until he lands on his feet. But when things turn ugly between Jenny and her crooked cop boyfriend, Joe is determined to stand up for his unlikely new family, and perhaps take one last shot at redefining his legacy.

MAN ON THE TRAIN
Donald Sutherland and Larry Mullen, Jr. star in this English language remake of Patrice Leconte’s award-winning French crime drama, directed by Mary McGuckian. When a mysterious criminal rolls into a small town planning to knock off the local bank, a chance encounter with a retired professor allows them both to reevaluate the course of their lives.

COLLABORATOR
Martin Donovan wrote, directs and stars alongside David Morse, Olivia Williams, and Katherine Helmond in this fiercely funny and insightful drama of two former childhood neighbors who reunite after years apart in their childhood town when one takes the other hostage. Robert Longfellow (Martin Donovan, “Weeds”)  is a famous playwright who can’t seem to catch a break. His recent Broadway play was met with horrible reviews and an early cancellation, and his marriage is being tested when an old flame (Olivia Williams, RUSHMORE) has re-entered his life. Retreating back to his childhood home to visit his mother (Katherine Helmond, BRAZIL), Robert crosses paths with his childhood neighbor, polar opposite Gus (David Morse, THE GREEN MILE), an ex-con who still lives at home with his mother. When Gus holds Robert hostage at gunpoint during a drunken reunion gone wrong, this blackly comic drama unfolds as social status, celebrity, and the imminent threat of violence converge, building up to a climax that will leave both men forever changed.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS
Best friends Nick (Alex Karpovsky, “Girls”) and Darryl (Tarik Lowe, WHIPLASH) are a New York film editing duo hired to salvage a botched comedy from a manic director (Kevin Corrigan, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) gone AWOL. But what starts as a simple job quickly sends their relationships with their significant others and each other reeling. Amidst trouble with his fiancée (Sophia Takal, GOD’S POCKET), Nick finds himself falling for the film’s flirtatious ingénue (Arielle Kebbel, HBO’s “Ballers”); Darryl, meanwhile, struggles to focus on his editing work in between fights with his tempestuous girlfriend (Melonie Diaz, FRUITVALE STATION). With real humor and heart, Supporting Characters offers a sharp, knowing take on life and love in the big city. SUPPORTING CHARACTERS is directed by Daniel Schechter.

RED FLAG
Writer/director Alex Karpovsky (HBO’s “Girls”) stars as Alex Karpovsky, a newly single indie filmmaker who hits the road with an old friend (Onur Tukel, SUMMER OF BLOOD) to promote one of his films. As the pair travel from one half-empty theater to the next, pursued by an adoring fan (Jennifer Prediger, A TEACHER) who drives them into an exceptionally uncomfortable love triangle, Alex-as-Alex is forced to suffer an endless series of humiliations, each one more absurd than the last.

NEWLYWEDS
Prolific New York filmmaker Edward Burns returns to the helm for his 10th feature, NEWLYWEDS. When you get married, you’re not just getting a husband or wife you’re getting the family, the friends, and even the exes. Buzzy and Katie are newlyweds. Katie’s meddlesome sister Marsha has been married to Buzzy’s friend Max for 18 years. As Marsha and Max’s marriage is crumbling under the weight of life together as empty-nesters, Buzzy and Katie’s honeymoon period is upended when Buzzy’s wild-child baby sister shows up at the couple’s TriBeCa apartment with more than a little baggage.

THE GIANT MECHANICAL MAN
Janice (Jenna Fischer) is down on her luck. Out of work and living with her well-intentioned but overbearing sister Jill (Malin Akerman), Janice is struggling to find her way and build a fulfilling life for herself. When she meets Tim (Chris Messina), a street performer whose unique talents as a “living statue” don’t exactly pay the bills, she recognizes a kindred spirit and as they get to know each other, Janice begins to feel that she has met someone who could make her happy. But as their connection begins to blossom, Jill’s meddling ways threaten to undermine Janice’s first real shot at love. With Topher Grace, Bob Odenkirk, Lucy Punch, and Rich Sommer, THE GIANT MECHANICAL MAN is a uniquely romantic comedy that examines the lengths we’re willing to go in order to find the perfect partner. Written and directed by Lee Kirk.
