The idea was simple: if people care obsessively about choosing the perfect banana, let’s dramatize that obsession at Super-Bowl scale.

We created a musical showdown centered entirely around selecting banana ripeness using Instacart’s new Preference Picker. The film introduces a fictional Euro-pop duo, starring Ben Stiller and Benson Boone, performing on a glittering retro-futuristic stage. What begins as a polished duet about choosing the perfect banana escalates into an absurdly dramatic competition.

By treating banana selection with operatic intensity, we turned a functional feature into a spectacle. The humor came from the contrast of a massive production devoted to something seemingly small. But for customers, it isn’t small.

In a category that often defaults to the rational, we used entertainment to dramatize product truth. The result was not just a commercial, but a pop-cultural moment that redefined what grocery control looks like and proved that with Instacart, precision is built in.
