BAM's Annual Series Announces a Killer Lineup

As much as we’d all love to attend every single film festival in the world, the truth is that doing so would leave bank accounts drained. Which is why the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s annual BAMcinemaFest series is such a godsend. In its seventh year, the 12-day program gathers the best movies from festivals like Sundance and SXSW for a barrage of New York premieres, and the 2015 edition just might BAM’s strongest one yet.
BAMcinemaFest’s Opening Night selection will be The End of the Tour, director James Ponsoldt’s (The Spectacular Now) funny and poignant dramatization of an episode in the enigmatic, and late, novelist David Foster Wallace’s (played by Jason Segel) life. Other highlights include: The Invitation, an excellent cultism thriller from Karyn Kusama (Girlfight); Krisha, which won top honors at SXSW; Nasty Baby, starring Kristen Wiig; and Queen of Earth, the latest from NYC-based filmmaker Alex Ross Perry that stars Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss.
