See 'Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton' at UnionDocs This Month
If you’re a New Yorker who missed 'Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton' at TFF 2013, you can remedy that misfortune this Friday, November 15, at UnionDocs in Williamsburg.
“Follow your own weird.” That’s the mantra that legendary beat poet and filmmaker James Broughton sent out into the world. Filmmakers Stephen Silha and Eric Slade weaved together moments from James Broughton's incredible, eccentric life as a poet and filmmaker to create their fascinating TFF2013 doc, Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton. Broughton's unprecedented work includes the euphoric and erotic films, The Pleasure Garden(1953) and The Bed (1968), which are well-known to experimental fans.
Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton will screen this Friday, November 15 at 7:30PM at UnionDocs in Williamsburg. Co-director Stephen Silha will be in person for a Q&A after the screening. The suggested donation (which can be made on-site) is only $9.00 per person.
