Monday Short: Enjoy the Dark Comedy of 'The Wake'

The next film in our Monday Shorts series, curated by TFF Head of Shorts Programming Sharon Badal, is 'The Wake' by Gemma Lee, in which a loner tries to find his place at the wake of his best friend's father.

Every Monday, TFF Head of Shorts Programming Sharon Badal shares a short film that she thinks deserves a bigger audience. This darkly humorous short from Down Under follows Jonathan, a well-meaning but hopeless misfit, as he makes an unexpected arrival at the wake of his best friend's father.

About the Filmmaker: Gemma Lee

Gemma Lee graduated from The Victorian College of the Arts with a masters in filmmaking, Her short film The Wake won the SBS Award for 'Best Film' at the St Kilda Film Festival in 2010. Gemma is currently developing the feature film Blackwood in partnership with Wolf Creek Pictures.
