‘Remembering The Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr.’ Airs Tonight On HBO

Airing tonight, June 9 at 9PM on HBO, this intimate doc looks at the life and legacy of artist Robert De Niro Sr. as told by those who knew him best.

“Part of recognition is luck.”  As a young figurative painter, Robert De Niro, Sr. stood out among his peers—which included artists such as Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko—and had his first solo exhibition at the Guggenheim gallery. However, with the rise of the Pop Art in the late 1950s, De Niro Sr.’s once promising career flagged, and he struggled for recognition throughout the rest of his life. The time has finally come.

Directed by Perri Peltz and Geeta Gandbhir, Remembering The Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr. celebrates the life and works of the painter through his own words and through accounts from fellow artists and family members, including his only son, Robert De Niro. This touching tribute airs tonight, June 9, at 9PM on HBO.
