Invitation: (Free) Future of Film Event Explores Film Criticism in the Age of Twitter

Tribeca invites you to a conversation exploring the Future of Film, held at The Varick Room at Tribeca Cinemas.

Everyone's a critic: Film criticism in the age of twitter

What's the job of a professional film critic when everyone with a Twitter account can blast their thumbs up or thumbs down to millions in seconds? How is movie criticism and writing about film changing to keep up with the times? This conversation with two of the web’s most read film writers will explore the changing role of the movie critic in the age of social media.

On January 17, Film critics Will Leitch (@WilliamFLeitch) (New York Magazine, Deadspin/Gawker's Grierson & Leitch film column) and Dana Stevens (@TheHighSign) (Slate's movie critic, co-host of the Slate Culture Gabfest, and host of the Slate Spoiler Special podcast, she's also written about film, books, television and other topics for the New York Times) will discuss the challenge (and fun) of writing about film in the age of social media, followed by an audience Q&A.

Moderated by Lindsay Robertson, Tribecafilm.com'storial Director

Afterwards, network, mingle and continue the conversation with a drink from the (cash) bar. The event is free, but space is limited. RSVP today!

Can't join us? The conversations will be recorded and available on our website at www.tribecafilm.com.
