‘Starred Up’ Now Playing in NYC

Starting today, New Yorkers can see ‘Starred Up’ at either the Film Society of Lincoln Center or the IFC Center. Filmmaker Q&As on Wed & Thurs!

‘Starred Up’ Now Playing in NYC

Described as “a ferocious psychodrama that locks you in and refuses to let you go" by A.O Scott of The New York Times, Starred Up was one of the most talked about films at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. In this violent drama, Jack O’Connell (star of Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken) plays Eric, an explosive young inmate who is forced to deal with his estranged father when they are placed on the same cellblock in a maximum-security prison. Anchored by strong performances from O’Connell, Ben Mendelsohn and Rupert Friend, Starred Up provides a startling exploration of brutal institutional corruption.

The gritty prison drama is now playing uptown at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and downtown at the IFC Center. Filmmaker David Mackenzie will be doing Q&As on Wednesday (8/27) and Thursday (8/28) after the 7:00PM shows at Film Society and after the 7:55PM shows at the IFC Center. Hurry and get your tickets while they last!
