Who assigns these credits, and how are they standardized? Moderator Rebecca Stern (producer of Retrieval, Tribeca '26 world premiere) leads a conversation that discusses crediting and offers a behind the scenes look at some of this year's Tribeca documentaries from the producer's POV. Presented by the Documentary Producers Alliance (DPA).

Rebecca Stern (Moderator)
Rebecca Stern is an Emmy-nominated documentary producer and director living in Los Angeles, CA. She focuses on stories that shock, awe or encourage a giggle. With credits on HBO, AMC, ABC, HULU, STARZ, ITVS, and NETFLIX, she makes a lot of stuff with the people she loves. Specific projects include: Well Groomed (SXSW ’19, Hot Docs ‘19, HBO Sports), Smugshot (AMC ‘25, ‘23), Level Playing Field (HBO Sports, ‘21), Dear Santa (ABC/HULU ‘23, ‘21), Deerfoot of the Diamond (Camden ‘23), Battleground (Starz, Tribeca ‘22), Snowy (Sundance ‘21), Tre Maison Dasan (Independent Lens ‘19), Netizens (Tribeca ‘18, HBO Max), and the bomb (Tribeca ‘16, Netflix). Rebecca is a 2023 DOCNYC 40 Under 40 honoree, a 2019 Impact Partners Fellow, a recurring SXSW mentor, a pga-accredited producer and a Documentary Producers Alliance board member.
Annalise Pelous
Annalise Pelous is a Brooklyn-based documentary editor whose most recent work can be seen in Sean Ono Lennon’s directorial debut threeASFOUR: Full Circle (Tribeca ’26, Associate Editor). They are also the Assistant Editor on Bury Me Standing (working title), a forthcoming feature documentary about the 2025-2026 exhibit MONUMENTS which staged decommissioned Confederate monuments alongside newly commissioned works by prominent contemporary artists, including Kara Walker, at Los Angeles's MOCA and The Brick. In addition to their post-production work, Annalise is the Senior Administrative Coordinator for the Documentary Producers Alliance, a nonprofit advocating and setting best practices on behalf of documentary producers. They have provided operational support to this organization for over four years.
Alysa Nahmias
Alysa Nahmias is an Emmy-winning filmmaker and founder of AJNA Films. Her directing credits include COOKIE QUEENS, a feature documentary about top sellers of Girl Scout Cookies, which recently premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, won the SXSW Festival Favorite Audience Award, and will be in U.S. theaters this summer; the Emmy-winning ART & KRIMES BY KRIMES (2022) for MTV Docs/Paramount+; THE NEW BAUHAUS (2019) a portrait of visionary artist Lázslo Moholy-Nagy; and UNFINISHED SPACES (2011), about art and revolution in Cuba, which won a Film Independent Spirit Award and is in the MoMA collection. Alysa’s producing credits include WILDCAT directed by Melissa Lesh and Trevor Beck Frost and UNREST directed by Jennifer Brea, among others. She frequently advises for Sundance Catalyst, Film Independent Labs, and Global Media Makers. She is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Television Academy, and a Co-Founder of FWD-Doc. Alysa lives in Los Angeles with her partner, their two children, and one new kitten.
Jeffrey Schwarz
Jeffrey Schwarz is an Emmy Award-winning producer and director known for an extensive body of non-fiction work. His latest feature documentary is Mineshaft: The Cruising Murders (Tribeca 2026), about the contentious making of William Friedkin’s Cruising and the shocking crimes that inspired it. His previous film is Commitment to Life (2023), which chronicles the city of Los Angeles’ response to the HIV/AIDS crisis. Boulevard! A Hollywood Story (2021) is about Gloria Swanson’s attempt to adapt Sunset Boulevard into a musical. Other work includes The Fabulous Allan Carr (2017), about the flamboyant producer of Grease and La Cage Aux Folles, Tab Hunter Confidential (2015), a biographical portrait of the 1950s screen heartthrob, I Am Divine (2013), about the international drag superstar and John Waters’ leading lady, and HBO Documentary Films’ Vito (2011), the Emmy-winning portrait of beloved gay activist Vito Russo.
