Mazda Presents Moving the Spotlight
| 90 MINUTESMoving the Spotlight 2024 has officially wrapped!
Moving the Spotlight was created in partnership with Mazda to give emerging, underrepresented filmmakers and their stories a once-in-a-lifetime shot at Tribeca. The featured films were of any format or style from independent filmmakers with no formal studio backing, with the most important criteria being that the films had the power to move viewers toward change.
Seven filmmakers were selected to premiere their films at the inaugural Moving the Spotlight ceremony, with the following three taking home the top honors:
Exceptional Craftsmanship: WHEN EVERYTHING BURNS - Written and Directed by Maria Belen Poncio.
Most Moving Narrative: LEADING MAN - Directed by Whitney Houser and Amanda Michaels. Written by Whitney Houser.
Challenger Spirit: STUD COUNTRY - Directed by Lina Abascal and Alexandra Kern
Congratulations to this year's winners and all the finalists. We look forward to moving the spotlight for unheard voices for years to come.
