Tribeca Lounge Talks - IBM - How VR, Games and Artificial Intelligence Deepen Learning and Engagement

Tribeca Talks
| 60 MINUTES
VR creators Fred Volhuer (Notes on Blindness: Into Darkness, TFF 2016) and Gregoire Parain (Unrest, TFF 2017), and IBM Serious Gaming Consultant Porter Stowell discuss the intersection of healthcare and technology as it relates to their work. Unrest allows audiences to access the world of chronic illness and disability in an exploratory, user-led experience, drawing upon sensory meditations on pain, fatigue, and neurosensory symptoms to allow the public a visceral and personal experience of a hard-to-understand condition. The Award-Winning Notes on Blindness is an interactive experience which uses real time 3D, virtual reality, and binaural sound to explore the interior world of blindness. The creators will discuss with the IBM game design experts how Watson can be used within games like Minecraft to educate at risk school students about infectious diseases and their prevention by asking Watson questions in the game. Moderated by Chris Neff, Director of Digital & Experiential at Tool of North America.
