The U.S. distribution rights for Andy Schocken and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's exuberant Pakistani music documentary Song of Lahore, which made its world premiere at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, has been scooped up by rising indie distributor Broad Green Pictures (Learning to Drive, A Walk in the Woods). This cinematic tribute to the Pakistani city of Lahore's world-renowned music scene will receive an Oscar-qualifying release in New York and Los Angeles on November 13th, followed by a later 2016 release.

Sachal Studios has attracted an audience from around the world for their experimental sound, fusing traditional music with contemporary Western flare. When their rendition of Dave Brubeck's piece "Take Five" gets the attention of Wynton Marsalis, they are invited to take the stage at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center. In the vein of The Buena Vista Social Club, directors Andy Schocken and Oscar®–winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (2012's Best Documentary Short victor Saving Face) offer a moving and uplifting look at cultural preservation and a group of passionate and skilled musicians who risk their own safety to inspire listeners from all over the globe. Song of Lahore is a testament to their talents, but also to the unifying power of music, no matter where it comes from.
