New York, NY – April 12, 2007 – Tribeca Film Festival and The Huffington Post today announced an editorial and advertising partnership to offer specially-created content for readers and unique sponsorship and marketing opportunities for advertisers. The partnership marks the first time the Huffington Post has worked closely with a film festival.
Beginning today through May 31, The Huffington Post will launch a special Tribeca Film Festival editorial area on the site, which will include film festival-related video, blogs and late-breaking news. Tribeca Film Festival will also link to The Huffington Post, allowing readers to seamlessly select content from both Web sites.
“We see this partnership as an important step in broadening and enriching the Tribeca Film Festival experience,” said Jennifer Maguire, President of the Tribeca Film Festival. “We continue to work to bring the dialogue that is inspired by the films in the Festival out of the theatre and move it online. Now online users from around the world can get further involved in the conversation and feel a part of the festival, whether or not they are able to attend.”
For advertisers, this partnership will allow marketers to tap into the affluent and thought-leader audiences of both the Tribeca Film Festival and Huffington Post in an outstanding editorial environment.
“The Tribeca Film Festival is a perfect partner for The Huffington Post,” said Kenneth Lerer, co-founder of The Huffington Post. “In just six years the festival has become an integral part of New York City culture and one of the country’s premiere film festivals. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work together.”
About the Tribeca Film Festival
The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff after the attacks on the World Trade Center to help economically and culturally revitalize Lower Manhattan through an annual celebration of film, music, and culture. The Festival’s mission is to assist filmmakers to reach the broadest possible audience, enable the international film community and the general public to experience the power of film, and to promote New York City as a major filmmaking center.
In its first five years, the festival attracted over one and a half million attendees from the US and abroad and created more than $325 million in economic activity for New York City.
The sixth annual Tribeca Film Festival will run from April 25th to May 6th, 2007. The Festival is anchored in Tribeca with additional venues throughout Manhattan, and includes film screenings, special events, concerts, a family street fair, and Tribeca Talks panel discussions.
