Moby Talks Mobygratis and the Chaotic Nature of the Internet on Acting Disruptive
In the eighth episode of AOL ON/Tribeca® Digital Studios series ‘Acting Disruptive,’ singer-songwriter /DJ Moby talks about his free, online music library specifically tailored to indie filmmakers, film students and non-profits.
“There are a lot of people using Mobygratis that don’t like me or don’t like my music.”
In the eighth episode of Acting Disruptive, musician Moby tells host Max Lugavere about Mobygratis, his free digital music library, which not only gets his rare cuts out to the world, but doubles as a free source of music for indie filmmakers and film students to use in their own projects.
After going through a simple application process, users have unrestricted access to the Mobygratis music database. As a business model, Mobygratis is unusual, but as Moby says, “Maybe because I’m an old punk rocker, but making independent films is hard enough on its own. I don’t want to contribute to the difficulty –I want to ameliorate it.”
