2013 marks the first year that films in four of our sections share an Opening Night. Rachel Boynton’s Big Men, the director’s latest industrial expose, opens the World Documentary Competition. Newcomer Lance Edmands’ New England drama, Bluebird, starring Amy Morton, John Slattery and Adam Driver, is the first entry in  the World Narrative Competition.

Brooklyn’s own dance-infused Flex Is Kings, directed by Deidre Schoo and Michael Beach Nichols, opens the Viewpoint section. Finally, the stylish psychological thriller, Dark Touch, written and directed by Marina de Van, kicks off our newly revamped Midnight section.

“Have you ever seen so many gulls?” Duck and cover because we’re showing Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds for the first night of our annual Tribeca Drive-In® series, co-sponsored by AT&T and Jet Blue. Expect the unexpected (alright, maybe you will see a special feathered visitor or two) for this classic movie screening under the stars.

Tomorrow’s Highlights: 

Our second night of the Tribeca Drive-In® series will feature the 25th anniversary screening of Tim Burton’s classic, Beetlejuice. With activities ranging from a Burtonesque costume contest to one lucky person being plucked from the audience to get a Beetlejuice style make-over, the mood will be so infectious that you’ll have to restrain yourself from saying "Beetleguese" three times in a row. See this beloved film again or for the first time, and we guarantee you’ll have a spooky good time.

Join ESPN Nine for IX series Libby Geist, director Rachel Boynton (Big Men), producer Tanya Ager Meillier (Alias Ruby Blade),writer/producer Laura Goode (Farah Goes Bang), and producer Abigail Disney as they redefine what it means to be a female in the industry. You can join in the discussion by attending FREE Tribeca Talks® Pen to Paper: New Chick Flicks panel, hosted by Barnes & Noble.

Also on tap in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Tribeca Film Institute’s Tribeca All Access®, TFI Executive Director Beth Janson will lead a dynamic debate on race, authorship, and authenticity with author, critic and filmmaker Nelson George, Indiewire's Shadow & Act Chief Editor Tambay Obenson, producer and Braven Films President and CEO Frida Torresblanco, and filmmaker Terence Nance at the FREE Tribeca Talks® Industry: Look Who's Talking. The event takes place  at the SVA theater.
