Nowar, who fled Syria during the war, portrays a character on Ahlan Simsim, the Arabic Sesame Street created for children affected by conflict and crisis. Through his puppeteering, he sends laughter and learning to his daughter in Damascus—and the millions of other children whose lives have been upended by war.
