The African-American barbershop aesthetic is given a German twist in Bob’s Place, as it charts the daily happenings of Bob, his international customers, and his hair salon located near Frankfurt’s main train station. The entertaining male bonding and camaraderie that ensue are proof that the customer’s identification with their barber transcends cultures. A double winner at the 2004 Regensburg Short Film Festival: for Best Political Film and runner-up for the Audience Award.

Götz Schauder was born in 1975 in Göttingen, Germany. He graduated from the Offenbach Academy of Art and Design in 2004. In addition to writing and directing his own projects, he works as a DP for other directors, i.e. on his brother Till’s film, Duke’s House, which premiered at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival. Together with Frankfurt-based Pegasos/Pandora Film Productions (Ghost Dog) Götz is currently developing a feature film version of Bob’s Place slated to go into production in the summer of 2005.
