Now in his mid-40s, Karim has lived in France since his early teenage years. Now, for the first time in many years, he's returning to Lebanon to transfer the remains of his father, who died during the war, from Beirut to his home village.

Carlos Chahine (b. 1959, Lebanon) emigrated to France at the beginning of the Lebanese war in 1975. He earned a diploma in dentistry before studying theater in Strasbourg. Since the '90s, he has worked exclusively as an actor. The North Road is his directorial debut.
