Born of internet mecca 4chan, the “Brony” phenomenon is a flourishing community of adult, mostly straight, male fans of the children’s cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Brent Hodge’s funny and illuminating documentary surveys the members of this surprising subculture, framed by the journey of Ashleigh Ball, one of the show’s voice actors, embracing her unexpected fan base.

Brent Hodge started his directing career with the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), eventually directing five full-length documentaries, including the Leo- nominated, Winning America (2011) and What Happen’s Next (2012). Brent has also worked with OWN Network, Slice, National Geographic, National Film Board of Canada, Discovery Canada, and OLN Network, and has done web video content for Mcdonalds, GAP, Samsung, and Big Rock Brewery.
