Dawn Chmielewski is a U.S.-based entertainment business correspondent for Reuters, whose work has appeared in some of the nation’s largest publications. The two will discuss their new book, Binge Times, the first comprehensive account of the biggest disruption in the entertainment industry, the shift to streaming. The conversation will be moderated by Emmy and Peabody Award-winning producer Evan Shapiro.

Dawn Chmielewski
Dawn Chmielewski is a U.S.-based entertainment business correspondent for Reuters, whose work has appeared in some of the nation’s largest publications, including Forbes, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report and the Los Angeles Times. As a senior editor at Recode, she won awards for her coverage of the devastating cyberattack on Sony Pictures Entertainment. Her multi-part series for the Los Angeles Times exposing a child pedophile scandal in Hollywood resulted in a change in California law to require background checks for talent agents, managers and others with unsupervised access to young actors and models. Dawn has done extensive work as a television and radio commentator, appearing on CNN, CNBC and NBC and National Public Radio’s “Here and Now” public affairs show. She also was a regular contributor to PC World’s technology show “Digital Duo,” which aired on nearly 200 public television stations nationwide. Dawn is a graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University.

Dade Hayes
Dade Hayes is Business Editor at Deadline, covering a wide range of news across corporate affairs, streaming, sports, advertising, finance and more. He has written about media, entertainment and technology as a staff reporter and editor at Variety, Entertainment Weekly and the Associated Press. Hayes has contributed to the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and the popular Wondery podcast Business Wars. He is the author of three books from major publishers, most recently Binge Times: Inside Hollywood’s Furious, Billion-Dollar Battle to Take Down Netflix (written with Dawn Chmielewski).

Evan Shapiro is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning producer of TV (Portlandia, Take My Wife, Harmonquest, Please Like Me), Film (This Film Is Not Yet Rated, The Bridge) and Podcasts (Next Wih Novo, Roast Of Your Teenage Self, The Rubber Room, Cancel Culture), a professor of Media Studies at NYU and Fordham, and an author of the Media War & Peace Newsletter and the official unofficial Cartographer of the Media Universe.
