Under the direction of Black women filmmakers, the depiction of Black women on screen is handled with nuance, grace and authenticity, a necessary and refreshing correction to historical portrayals. Noted Black women feature film directors, across a spectrum of experience, will discuss the joys and challenges of creating films centering Black women. The panelists have all had their work premiered at the Tribeca Festival. The conversation will be moderated by curator, educator and producer Michelle Materre.
