TRIBECA TALKS DIRECTORS SERIES: BRAD BIRD AND JANEANE GAROFALO

Brad Bird has carved out a unique career in both animation and live action filmmaking. He will speak with Janeane Garofalo about what it’s like to transition between these two forms of storytelling, with hits like Ratatouille, Iron Giant, Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, and the upcoming Tomorrowland.

Brad Bird is currently directing “Tomorrowland,”, starring George Clooney, for release by Walt Disney Pictures on May 22, 2015. He most recently directed the worldwide hit “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,” the fourth installment of the Tom Cruise-starring franchise, which netted nearly 700 million globally. Bird has won Oscars for writing and directing the Academy® Award-winning Pixar Animation Studios films “Ratatouille” and “The Incredibles.” Bird began his first film, an animated short, at the age of 11, and finished it nearly three years later, which brought him to the attention of Walt Disney Studios at age 14.

Janeane Garofalo
Janeane Garofalo has had many memorable and critically acclaimed roles in film and television since bursting on the scene in 1992. She's appeared in films such as “Wet Hot American Summer,” “Ratatouille,” "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," and "Reality Bites". She was a cast member on "The Ben Stiller Show," and "The Larry Sanders Show," and had recurring roles on “24” and “The West Wing”. She tours as a stand up comedian, is one of the stars of Bravo’s first scripted show, and will reprise her role as Beth in the highly anticipated Netflix "Wet Hot American Summer" series.
