Interested in the next wave of gifted, young filmmakers? Of course you are! Founded by Sebastian Rea (our very own Content Manager), the 30 Under 30 Film Festival is back for its sophomore year providing a showcase and a forum for discussion for these talented young directors.

The three-day event kicks off this Friday with a diverse program of shorts and Rachel Beth Anderson’s feature documentary First to Fall, which mesmerized audiences at this year’s Human Rights Watch Festival in NYC.  Anderson’s film follows two friends, Hamid and Tarek, who leave their studies in Canada to travel home to Libya to help overthrow Muammar Gaddafi.

Saturday’s program, the Cinema Saturday Selection, will include international short subjects, documentary shorts, and two feature films: Alexander Tovar’s Nothing in Los Angeles and These Hopeless Savages, directed by Kaitlyn Busbee and Sean Christopher Lewis.

Closing Night festivities should be a blast!  Hosted at Tribeca Cinemas, the Closing Night film is Brooklynite Connor Hurley’s Skook, to be followed by a reception with a live performance featuring the polyrhythms of Strings N Skins.
