With Your Help, TFF 2012 Favorites BURN & Fame High Can Connect with a Wider Audience

You may have gotten a chance to see crowd favorites “BURN” and “Fame High” at this year’s Festival, but others were not as lucky. One way to ensure that films such as these make their way into theaters is to donate to their causes. Can you help?

With Your Help, TFF 2012 Favorites BURN & Fame High Can Connect with a Wider Audience

Fans who attend film festivals enjoy the distinction of being among the first viewers of the best in independent cinema. Frequently, however, an independent film’s journey to wider distribution is just beginning when the festival circuit is complete. This is certainly true for two popular TFF 2012 films—BURN and Fame High. The teams behind both of these excellent documentaries are actively fundraising so that their films can be shown in theaters this fall.

Burn

BURN, directed by Tom Putnam and Brenna Sanchez, chronicles a year in the cauldron of danger and controversy that is the Detroit Fire Department. Focusing on life in one of the nation’s busiest firehouses—Engine Company 50—BURN follows these extraordinary firefighters as they face injury, death, and political shake-ups in a city with one of the highest arson rates in the world. Executive producers Denis Leary and Jim Serpico hope that BURN will bring much needed attention to the plight of dedicated and overworked firefighters in Detroit and around the country. This riveting documentary wowed audiences at TFF 2012 and won the Heineken Audience Award for Best Documentary!

Though the filmmakers and their team recently held a series of successful screenings in Philadelphia at the Prince Music Theater, they are still raising money to secure a Fall 2012 release. Here’s how you can help:

♦ Donate directly to BURN through Fractured Atlas
Buy a BURN t-shirt (all proceeds will go towards the film’s release)
Tweet and Facebook about BURN to your friends and family

Are you living your dream? The kids are the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts sure are! Directed by Scott Hamilton Kennedy (Oscar-nominated for The Garden), Fame High captures all the heartbreaks and triumphs of a group of ambitious teens that have dedicated their young lives to their zeal for performing. These impressive students divide their time between rigorous schoolwork and developing their talents as they prepare for tests, auditions and their spectacular graduation performance.

This inspiring documentary delighted our Festival audiences, proving that it’s never too early (or too late!) to find your own voice and pursue your passions. Americans of the Arts, one of the largest arts advocacy groups in the country, shared our festival audiences’ enthusiasm, as evidenced by its recent praise for the ways in which Fame High promotes the importance of arts education in our public schools.

The team behind Fame High continues to work tirelessly to finance a general release of this inspirational film in Fall 2012. Here’s what you can do to help this worthy project reach a national audience:

♦ Donate directly to Fame High through Kickstarter (check out their fantastic rewards!)
