NYCC Highlights: Tribeca Takes the Con
And nerds shall inherit the earth! Straight from the Jacob Javits Center, Tribeca brings you the high points of four days of coverage at the 2012 New York Comic Con.

On October 11-14, Tribeca hit the New York Comic Con along with a staggering 100,000 exhibitors, professionals and most importantly, fans. The 6th annual event was a true collision of pop culture mavens—fan boys and fan girls of every persuasion attended to celebrate their particular obsession. Movies, comics, anime, television shows were all represented by the creators and their stars.
Celebrations for big studio movies like Carrie and the Evil Dead took place alongside events like a 10th anniversary tribute honoring Joss Whedon’s Firefly. Comedy legends mingled with music moguls, and indie publishers hobnobbed with graphic artists, making for an overwhelming sense of camaraderie over the course of the four-day convention. That Comic Con is, above all, a true celebration of fandom, imagination and unrestrained self-expression could not have been clearer.
Over the course of the convention, we captured a variety of images and interviewed a number of participants eager to communicate the essence of the eclectic New York Comic Con experience. Keep checking back for all our NYCC coverage—you’ll hear directly from artists like Scott C, Tim Doyle and Jason Edmiston, and filmmakers like Barry Levinson, Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid as they talk about their work, their inspirations and the reasons that NYCC is so vital to the East Coast. We also give voice to the fans as we showcase their costumes, their interests and their motivations for returning year after year.
Stay tuned to Tribeca—whether your Comic Con fandom is secret or out in the open—and let your inner nerd come out and play!
