Help Rooftop Films Continue to Thrive

Now in their 18th year, Rooftop Films needs your help to continue to provide one of the finest movie-watching experiences that NYC has to offer.

Help Rooftop Films Continue to Thrive

If you have never been to a Rooftop Films screening, you are missing out on one of the most unique ways to view cinema in the city. Their carefully curated line up is a film buff’s dream—comprised of the most groundbreaking and highly anticipated indies of the year. Last year’s program included critical hits like Cutie and the Boxer, Frances Ha, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Drinking Buddies, Short Term 12, Stand Clear of the Closing Doors and more.

Rooftop Films also provides a showcase for new and emerging filmmakers like Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly who showed an excerpt from their excellent coming-of-age drama, Beneath the Harvest Sky, at a Rooftop showing last summer. Their debut narrative feature was just acquired by Tribeca Film for a 2014 release. Other Rooftop filmmakers to watch include Deb Shovel (AWOL), Lou Howe (Gabriel), Colin Healey (Homemakers), Shelli Ainsworth (Stay Then Go) and many more.

Why are we telling you this? Rooftop Films needs help with funding from film lovers like you if they are to continue to bring the most exciting indie features and docs to NYC audiences. Head over to their Kickstater page, entitled “Raise the Rooftop,” to donate and receive great rewards in return. Along with Rooftop 2013 Summer Series memberships (at all various levels), you will find wonderful merchandise that has been contributed by New York indie staples like IFC Films, Magnolia Films, Oscilloscope Laboratories and Posteritati.

Guarantee you’ll have a great summer at the movies by lending your support to Rooftop Films
