Join Us in Times Square for Nelson Mandela Day
This Thursday, July 18 at 7:15PM, we invite you to gather with us in Times Square to celebrate the lasting legacy of Nelson Mandela.
During the entire month of April, the residents of New York City were treated to “The Power of Words,” a film event celebrating Mandela, as part of Times Square’s Midnight Moment: A Digital Gallery program. Part of the initiative presented by Montblanc, this short film compilation profiles one of the world’s great activists. The project was made possible with the help by the Tribeca Film Institute and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, who matched five established filmmakers, five participants from the Tribeca Film Fellows® program, and five members of the Boys and Girls Clubs to form teams to make a short narrative film based on some of Mandela’s most inspiring quotations.
In honor of Nelson Mandela Day on July 18, please join us at the red steps at Duffy Square at 7:15PM as we recognize the contributions of this celebrated human rights activist with an exclusive video installation made especially to be displayed on the signs in Times Square. We hope to see you there!
