While our hearts will always be downtown, the Festival is moving on up to the Beacon Theatre once again for four very special TFF 2015 events, thanks to our partnership with the Madison Square Garden Company. In what is quickly becoming a tradition, the historic venue will host the 2015 Opening Night festivities, presented by AT&T, on April 15, with the world premiere of Bao Nguyen’s LIVE FROM NEW YORK!, a documentary that explores the impact and influence of Saturday Night Live on the American zeitgeist over the past 40 years [Read out interview with Nguyen here]. With SNL cast members, both past and current, and special guests sure to be in attendance, only a venue as grand as the Beacon could hold this much excitement.
At Tribeca, it is no secret that we love to blur the lines between film and performance—both musical and otherwise. To celebrate the world premiere of Sam Wrench’s documentary, Mary J. Blige – The London Sessions, Blige herself will take the Beacon Theatre stage after the screening to perform several songs on Thursday, April 16. No doubt the performance by the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul will include a track or two off The London Sessions, her 13th album and the subject of the film. This special screening is in partnership with American Express and a Card Member Exclusive.

As part of our celebration surrounding the famed comedy troupe, Monty Python, the Beacon Theatre also will host the 40th anniversary screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail on Friday, April 24. Monty Python members John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin will be on-hand to bring in the funny to the horde of comedy and film fans that will no doubt migrate to the Upper West Side—preferably with coconuts in hand.
To round out all the TFF 2015 festivities, the Beacon Theatre will be the historic setting for the equally historic 25th anniversary celebration of Martin Scorsese’s GoodFellas. Closing Night, co-sponsored by Infor and Roberto Coin, will feature a screening of the newly 4k remastered version of the film—supervised by Scorsese himself—with a cast and crew Q&A to follow, hosted by Jon Stewart. Talk about a night to remember!
By now, you’re wondering when and where you can buy tickets for these amazing TFF 2015/ Beacon Theatre events. Hey, we don’t blame you! Tickets for all four events go on sale for the general public on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00AM ET through Ticketmaster.
